In Codes Of Silence
In codes of silence past that door
She waves her hair to meet at four,
Beyond the hallways shifting whites
Past the realm of higher sights,
Where the coffee steams above
And I stop to drink her love
Then walk back through that droning gate
Where they say my duty waits.
And you see
She opens me with touches of the night
Amidst these closed cubicles of spaces in light.
She places inside me spirit and joy
Tells me she is a girl and I am a boy.
Here those that surround me are talking to walls
Welcomed by doors
And business calls.
Love conditional to performance and stars
That hang on the wall waiting to fall.
And suddenly the boss is expressing his doubt
If me and this work will ever work out
How he can foresee that there will be strife
If earning a living, I won’t sacrifice life.
So I walk to the kitchen,
Then leave his land
Taking with me his wife in my hand.
