Once I Knew What Sorrow Was

Once I knew what sorrow was
But then you came along
And now life is a joyous melody in a splendid song.
Once old man Loneliness knocked upon my door
But now you live inside my heart and he knocks not anymore.
The fires of fear and fretfulness
Are tempered by your grace -
The eloquent serenity of beauty on your face.
The world that surrounds us is caught in such dismay
By Chaos and Confusion that ride chuckling away.
But when I hold you closely I know that all is right
No matter what is going on in this world tonight.
