Woman And Man

A solitary branch guided her through the thickest forest,
Through the turns and wanderings which there were.
Though others scraped her skin and bled and broke her spirit
This one was there to comfort her.

And so she took this branch upon her chest
And cleaved it once into her heart
So that never would she ever rest
With this branch and her apart.

A solitary branch guided him through the thickest forest,
Through the turns and wanderings of his whim.
Though others scraped his skin and bled and broke his spirit
This one was there to comfort him.

And so he took this branch upon his chest
And rubbed it once onto his heart
To have it with his love professed
And silently depart.
